The facelift that finally got the wet DCT

The PDe facelift bumped the 2.0T to 206kW/392Nm and, more importantly, added the 8-speed wet-clutch N DCT alongside the 6-speed manual. The wet DCT is the big deal for tuners: it handles more torque and heat than a dry unit, so it copes with a Stage tune far better than the old PD ever could. Note the N Grin Shift button doesn't add boost on this engine - it just holds peak torque and sharpens shifts for 20 seconds.

What is the best first upgrade?

Our Stage 1 (CT500) package - not just a tune on its own. It is a high-flow downpipe, one-step-colder spark plugs, an upgraded blow-off valve and an engine pitch mount, finished with the tune, and each part earns its place. The factory downpipe has two cats in it and is a major restriction; we step the plugs one heat range colder as best practice when adding power, to keep cylinder temps down; the factory BOV is a plastic unit with a rubber seal that has been known to leak once the car is tuned; and the pitch mount is quick to fit while the downpipe is already out, and tames the axle tramp these cars are known for. The tune then makes the most of the lot.

What sort of power gains can I expect?

With our Stage 1 (CT500) package you can generally expect around +60kW and +95Nm at the flywheel - the facelift bigger factory turbo responds hard, so Stage 1 gains are strong.

How much further can it go?

Stage 2 (CT550) adds the full bolt-ons, and a hybrid turbo (CT600) is the next step for big power.
