FAQ
Common questions
What's the best first mod for the 2.0 petrol?
Honestly, basic maintenance and decent tyres give you the most for your money on this car. The naturally aspirated 2.0 has no factory boost to unlock and very little bolt-on support, so a panel filter and a fresh set of grippy rubber is about as far as it sensibly goes.
Can I get a tune and how much will I gain?
The petrol is naturally aspirated, so there's essentially nothing meaningful to gain from a tune - any reputable shop will tell you the same. The 1.6 CRDi diesel responds better to a remap because it's turbocharged, but realistic gains are modest and only worth it if you keep the car for the long haul.
Petrol or diesel - which is the better buy?
The 2.0 petrol is smoother and cheaper to buy and service. The 1.6 CRDi diesel makes 255 Nm and is the one to have for towing or highway economy, and owners rate it as very durable.
Any known weak points to watch on a used one?
By now it's age and kilometres more than design flaws. Check for rough or uneven idle (often dirty injectors or a tired MAF), watch the diesel's auto for shift quality, and keep on top of oil changes and the timing belt service intervals on older examples.
